Meet the Doctors

David A. Kingrey, M.D.

David A. Kingrey, M.D. is the founder of Vision Surgery Consultants which traces its roots to The Ochsner Eye Center, established in 1974 by Bruce B. Ochsner.  Dr. Kingrey joined Dr. Ochsner in 1998.  Dr. Kingrey is a native of Wichita and a graduate of The University of Kansas Medical School.  After completing his medical degree, Dr. Kingrey completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Ohio State University.

Dr. Kingrey has extensive experience in ophthalmic microsurgery, and has performed over 20,000 cataract procedures and 5,000 Lasik procedures. 

Dr. Kingrey is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society, The American Academy of Ophthalmology, and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Bruce B. Ochsner, M.D.

Bruce B. Ochsner, M.D. began practice in Wichita in 1974.  He is the founder of The Ochsner Eye Center which was the predecessor to Vision Surgery Consultants, and established the first corneal eye bank in Wichita.  Dr. Ochsner is a native of Kansas, after receiving his medical degree from The University of Kansas, he completed a residency in Ophthalmology at Wayne State University Kresge Eye Institute, Detroit, Michigan.  Dr. Ochsner specializes in ophthalmology microsurgery and is widely respected in the specialty  areas of cataract surgery.  Dr Ochsner has extensive experience in all types of ophthalmic microsurgery and began performing laser vision correction since its FDA approval in 1995. 

Dr. Ochsner is a member of the American Intraocular Lens Implant Society, The Ophthalmolgy Outpatient Surgery Society, and The American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Jeffrey A. Boomer, M.D.

Jeffrey A. Boomer, M.D. a native of Manhattan, KS, is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in corneal transplants, cataract surgery and laser vision correction.  Dr. Boomer earned his B.S. in Microbiology from Kansas State University and earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City.  He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Department of Internal Medicine, and he served his residency in Ophthalmology at Dean A. McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City.

Dr. Boomer completed a fellowship in Cornea and External Diseases, and Cataract, Corneal and Refractive Surgery at the Dean A. McGee Eye Institute.   After training, Dr. Boomer joined the well-respected Hunkeler Eye Institute in Kansas City in 2006.  Vision Surgery Consultants, P.A., was excited to have Dr. Boomer join the practice in 2011, where he continues to specialize in Cataract, Corneal and Refractive Surgery.  He is currently a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery and Christian Ophthalmology Society.  Dr. Boomer also currently serves on the board of the Kansas Eye Bank.

Associated Eye Surgery Center

Associated Eye Surgery Center provides our patients with excellent surgical eye care in a comfortable and safe environment.  It is located on the second floor of Vision Surgery Consultants, PA.  The nursing and surgical staff are highly skilled and experienced in eye surgery and devote themselves to making your experience a pleasant one.  The Vision Surgery Consultants surgeons utilize the latest and most advanced technology and equipment for your eye surgery.  As a surgery center completely dedicated to eye surgery, this provides a safe environment.  Our excellence is recognized by our national accreditation with AAAHC and Medicare.

World Wide Missions

Our doctors and staff have charitably given cataract surgery to blind individuals throughout the world.  All three of our doctors have participated in mission work, donated free surgery to the blind, lectured and taught surgery throughout the world.  We have given sight to the locals in India, Panama, Ecuador and China.
